The AI race isn’t slowing down
It's been almost a year since OpenAI unleashed ChatGPT on the masses, and what a year it's been. It has been adopted by both companies and individuals to handle tasks ranging from generating documents to outputting code.
Just as we were getting the hang of it, OpenAI surprised us with an update: ChatGPT is gearing up to not only chat but also see and hear.
That's right. ChatGPT is taking one more step to become a bit more "human." Soon, you'll be able to engage in things like AI-powered therapy or snapping a photo of a troublesome grill for the chatbot to troubleshoot using its newfound voice and image capabilities.
"You can now show ChatGPT one or more images. Troubleshoot why your grill won't start, explore the contents of your fridge to plan a meal, or analyze a complex graph for work-related data," the company said in its announcement post.
This could bring the chatbot even closer to dethroning the likes of Siri and Alexa as the assistants of choice across mobile devices. Why use legacy apps when ChatGPT can do the same job and more?
All in all, it's been a wild few weeks in the space with OpenAI announcing DALL-E 3 and Amazon investing up to $4 billion in Anthropic, the company behind competitor Claude.
All that is left to ask is: What’s next, AGI?
