ChatGPT - Should I worry about this new buzzword?

OpenAI, an independent research body founded by the world's richest man Elon Musk along with Sam Altman, launched a chatbot, ChatGPT on Wednesday last week, and, in just a week, the service has peaked at over 1 million users.

What is ChatGPT?

ChatGPT is a conversational dialogue model, a chatting robot, trained by artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning. It understands and responds to natural human language and answers questions, and talks like you were to talk to humans. It gets its name from GPT or Generative Pre-Trained Transformer. It is a deep-learning language model that specializes in generating human-like written text. Deep Learning which is a machine learning method with three or more layers of a neural network attempts to simulate the behavior of a human brain, which then allows it to learn like humans.

But how is it different from Siri or an Alexa who can also talk and respond, tell a joke or recite a poem? How is ChatGPT different than any other AI models that are already available?

Well, it's different because ChatGPT will remember your earlier conversations for context, it will even admit its mistakes, challenge premises, and sometimes even decline to answer.

Few examples of how ChatGPT Works:

OpenAI's new ChatGPT explains the worst-case time complexity of the bubble sort algorithm, with Python code examples, in the style of a fast-talkin' wise guy from a 1940's gangster movie:

Being able to effortlessly string together cloud services to do complex tasks is an underrated use case. ChatGPT can be used as a tool to debug our daily codes as well.

Well, based on these examples. I think three things are missing to make it disrupt...well...anything:

It still spits out non-factual information. Once someone figures out how to align it to a source of truth (let's say Wikipedia), it's game over.

?It can still be tricked into unethical behavior. Tougher to fix. Bonus question: who defines "ethical behavior"?

Creativity. This technology is a paradigm shift for human-computer interaction. We've seen 1% of its potential.

I don't know you, but I feel like I'm witnessing history unfold before my eyes.

I am so excited I literally struggle sleeping.

Who's with me?

And for who's not with me: what am I missing?
