In this article, we'll discuss how to create a product in a single weekend, that will garners 1.5k organic installs later on, and not being Andrej Karpathy .
Now that I've piqued your interest, let's delve further.
In the not-too-distant past, namely November, I found myself intrigued by a new OpenAI post, which introduced the GPT-3 completion API to the community. It wasn't the chat version we currently have, but its predecessor.
This was a lightbulb moment for me. A few trial runs were enough to convince me that the future had arrived, and developing without such a tool is akin to being a stone-age dweller competing with an astronaut.
So, I decided to develop a tool that would assist me in my daily tasks — the Sublime Text editor OpenAI GPT integration plugin. Although the models weren't of the highest quality at the time, they were enough to reduce the need for constant coding-related Google searches.

Then, ChatGPT arrived — a revolutionary product. It wasn't about model performance, which remains relatively low, but primarily about the user experience. The ability to refine and correct the intent of your question is a game-changing feature, facilitating a more effective way to harness the power of language models.
When ChatGPT was launched, I updated my plugin accordingly. This alone eliminated the need to Google code-related queries — I now have a teammate with a perfect memory who is proficient in any given open-source software tool.
The advent of GPT-4 leveled up my virtual teammate from a junior to a mid-level associate at no extra cost. Previously, solving a development task felt like hacking; now, it's comparable to having a conversation with an actual teammate who has a different knowledge domain than mine.
While it's not yet a tool to which I can delegate my work duties, and I believe it may never be, I'm confident that sooner rather than later, I'll become a team lead within my editor of choice. Whether my actual role is a Senior Software Developer, Team Lead of a Software Team, or even Head of Product, language models have me covered.
As for the title of this article, the 1.5k users who opted to install my Sublime Text plugin on their laptops are, I believe, sharing my vision.
