Will ChatGPT replace Google?

While most of us are excited about the new capabilities enabled by ChatGPT (GPT) and other artificial intelligence (AI) tools, this should not confuse about the primarily use of it, because GPT in a technical speech is language model designed to generate human-like responses to text inputs, what does this means? Basically, delivers an answer to any input you write, you may think well, this is familiar versus Google, right? Well, it’s similar but the answer is no.

Both tools are one of a kind, the first one entering our lives and the second one already in it serving different purposes. While Google is a search engine used to explore information on the internet, i.e., “apartment rental in Monterrey” this will deliver you the best rental sites based on a lot of factors we’ll discuss later, but if you do the same exercise in GPT, it will deliver something like this:

Personal query in GPT, explore your own through: https://chat.openai.com/

So, what was the error? None, GPT is delivering you an answer of what to take into consideration if you want to rent an apartment in Monterrey, but surely is not what any would have expected versus what you get in Google, because Google, with its vast index of websites and its advanced algorithms, has revolutionized the way we access information. It allows users to search for anything from definitions and images to news articles and research papers. Google's ability to provide relevant and accurate results quickly has made it the benchmark search engine.

To understand how to use each we must understand their core differences:

  1. Purpose: Google is primarily used to explore information on the internet, GPT is used to generate human-like responses to text inputs. Additionally, Google uses a search algorithm to rank and retrieve results, whereas GPT uses machine learning to generate responses based on its training data.
  2. Interaction: The level of interaction required from the user. With Google, the user inputs a query to do, and the search engine provides a list of results. On the other hand, GPT, the user inputs a text, and the AI generates a response.
  3. Quality: While Google provides information, GPT's responses that are more personalized and tailored to the user's needs.

Both are powerful tools serving different purposes, even if they share similarities, such as their use of machine learning, level of interaction, and the quality of their responses, at the end they tend to differ. Both have revolutionized the way we access and interact with information, and their continued development is exciting to watch.

Totally agree, Guillermo Castro both are different tools.
