ChatGPT real case. 40 minutes of human time vs 1 minute on ChatGPT.

Earlier today I was approached by another Engineer with a not complex but very specific doubt that required knowledge of NestJS (Lifecycle and Guards), Node and Typescript. A situation not too common.

What we did:

1) Discussed a little bit to check our understanding

2) Searched on Stack Overflow

3) Searched on Google

4) Gathered the search results to choose which direction to go

That took us about 20 minutes to find a possible solution that needed to be coded and tested. So we can tell that we used 40 minutes of human time.

Later today I decided to try the same problem on ChatGPT and I got the same solution but it took less than 1 minute.

QUESTION

I need to build 2 Guards on NestJS. One that enables the use of API with Authentication Cookies and another one that enables the use of API with API Key. How should I approach the creation of these 2 Guards and enable a route to be authenticated by one or another? Can you provide me code examples also?

ChatGPT and any other solution base don GPT-4 is not able today to put together and write a lot of code with a lot of files. It still need someone to orchestrate, but if you can learn how to use it to increase significantly engineering productivity.

IMHO... If I was still leading big engineering teams I would stop right now for a month and put everyone to learn this new technologies so that in the following month I could start instantly been rewarded by an increase in productivity. But that is my opinion. What is yours?
