I recently watched an insightful interview titled "AI and Humanity’s Co-Evolution" featuring Peter Deng, OpenAI's Head of ChatGPT. He shared some interesting ideas on how AI, especially ChatGPT, is changing our world and ourselves.

I’ve never seen a technology in my lifetime that’s this powerful and has this much promise - Peter Deng.

Here are the key highlights:

1. AI Makes Us More Human: Peter believes that AI can deepen our understanding and improve our questioning skills. It acts like an ever-present teacher guiding us through life’s complex questions.

3. Creating AI with Good Values: Peter underscores the importance of developing AI with strong ethical principles from the start, ensuring it serves everyone fairly.

Real-Life Example: Peter told an inspiring story about a mother who asked ChatGPT for advice on her child's ongoing, undiagnosed pain. After numerous visits to about 17 doctors over three years without a conclusive diagnosis, the mother compiled all her child's medical information and symptoms and consulted ChatGPT for insights. Surprisingly, ChatGPT suggested that the child might have tethered cord syndrome. Armed with this new perspective, the mother sought further medical advice, and a specialist confirmed the diagnosis. Following surgery, the child's condition significantly improved. This remarkable experience underscores AI's ability to provide new perspectives in healthcare, reinforcing the critical need for professional medical advice.

We believe the future of work is powered by people and enabled by AI

Here are the key highlights:

• Martec's Law and Organisational Change: Technology grows quickly, but organisations change slowly. Businesses must rapidly adjust to new technologies, facing the challenge that yesterday's mental models often clash with tomorrow's technologies. Continuous business transformation is vital to stay ahead.

But one of the challenges that we encounter when we're trying to make these changes are that the mental models of yesterday are starting to collide with the technologies of tomorrow. So, just doing a discrete session of business transformation isn't enough because by the time you finish, you're already behind again.

• Fast Growth of AI Models: AI's capabilities are expanding exponentially, with predictions suggesting a minimum improvement of 3,125 times by 2029, illustrating AI's power and potential to surpass current limitations.

And the fun thing to note is that these models are improving with their capabilities and capacity by 5 to 10x per year... we're looking at a minimum of 3,125 times better than they are today, or 100,000 times better than they are today by this date in 2029, five years from today.

• New Tech vs Old Ways of Thinking: Today's work practices may not align with emerging technologies. Adapting our mindset is essential to leverage these advancements effectively, as noted by Rishad Tobaccowala: "The future does not fit the containers of the past."
• Leadership and Adapting to Change: Leaders play a crucial role in guiding their organisations through technological advancements. Stagnation after a single transformation phase risks falling behind in the technological race.

So just doing a discrete session of business transformation isn't enough because by the time you finish, you're already behind again.

• Project-Based Work: It's better to focus on the skills people have and the projects they can work on, rather than their job titles. This makes workplaces more adaptable and creative.
• The Role of Creative Generalists: Individuals with diverse skill sets will thrive, using AI as a tool to enhance their multifaceted abilities.

And as more and more of our life becomes codified by the data that we're giving these things, privacy is gonna be super important.

• AI Enhancing Human Abilities: AI complements human intelligence, akin to how calculators aid in mathematical calculations, by solving complex problems more efficiently.
• AI for Knowledge Management and Finding Information: AI streamlines knowledge management and decision-making processes, significantly reducing the time spent searching for information, thereby boosting organisational efficiency. Notably, AI reduces the time employees spend searching for information across documents, with the average worker spending 32 working days a year on this task, or about 13% of payroll.
• Accelerated Creative Process with AI: AI facilitates rapid ideation and content creation. A case study highlighted a team generating 4000 visuals, 12 custom pages, and 2 videos in just 2.5 hours, showcasing AI's capability to enhance human creativity.
