ChatGPT & Microsoft - Will Google Slaughter the Golden Egg laying Goose?

We have all witnessed how ChatGPT can turn into ChadGPT real quick, given detailed prompts.

I agree that it has certain limitations and loopholes that can be exploited for spreading misinformation and manipulation.

Still, it's undoubtedly the best AI chatbot ever released to the general public.

With tools like ChatGPT and DALL·E 2 , the 'AI Singularity' no longer seems like a far-fetched dream.

At least to the dumb ones.

And 微软 is already in talks with Open AI to invest $10 billion for 75% stakes in the company, which will reduce to 49% once the investments are repaid.

Don't take it as a philanthropy stunt from Microsoft to foster an AI-ready culture.

Microsoft has bold plans to dethrone 谷歌 as the undisputed search engine king.

Or at least die trying.

How?

If the deal goes forward, Open AI will get sufficient funding to train the model on extensive data sets and fix the loopholes and even the slightest inaccuracies – further improving the NLP capabilities of ChatGPT to generate even better 'human-like' responses.

And Microsoft incorporating the language model with Bing could bring in a tsunami of startups and mid-level businesses who can't afford to compete against the conglomerates in their respective industries on Google.

And as the 2nd largest search engine, Bing would look for opportunities to outmaneuver Google, and SMBs would look for exposure and rankings, which they otherwise would have never gotten on Google.

But wait…

Can't Google come up with something similar (if not better) to the ChatGPT?

Of course, it can.

You're deluded if you believe otherwise.

Then why would it be a problem for Google?

Why is there already a 'Code Red' situation at Google?

And most importantly, why can't Google create something similar to ChatGPT and incorporate it with its search engine?

Because it would be cannibalizing itself…

Google ad revenue accounts for around 80% of their total revenues. And with an AI chatbot answering queries and showing search results, paid marketing will eventually die out. ?

And I don't see that happening. At least for now.

How will Google react to this threat?

How will it sustain its position as the undisputed leader among the search engines?

I don't know.

But I'm pretty sure Google won't like the idea of slaughtering the goose that has been laying the golden eggs for them for the last two decades.?
