ChatGPT on Management: The Art of decisions making

ChatGPT on Management: The Art of decisions making

As we all know the art of managing people is quite often describes at using intuition, creativity and emotional intelligence to make decisions and manage people. In contrast, management science involves data, research and analysis to make informed decisions.

I know, I know...This is easy and trendy...:)

I was curious and based on my experience, I asked ChatGPT to get an Artificial Intelligence point of view on the Art and Science of Managing...

Here the question I asked to Chat "Why do Business Leaders who have much data available not use it in order to take variation based decisions?"

Hereunder what Chat replied on May 2nd 2023:

There could be several reasons why business leaders may not use the available data to make decisions based on variations. Here are a few possible explanations:

  1. Lack of skills or expertise: Even though data is available, business leaders may not have the skills or expertise needed to analyze the data and draw insights from it. This could be due to a lack of training or experience in data analysis, statistics, or other related fields.
  2. Overreliance on intuition or experience: Some business leaders may rely more on their intuition or experience rather than data analysis when making decisions. While intuition and experience can be valuable, they may not always provide a complete picture of the situation.
  3. Inadequate data quality or availability: Sometimes, the available data may not be of sufficient quality or may not cover all relevant aspects of the situation. In such cases, relying solely on the available data may not be the best option.
  4. Resistance to change: Business leaders may be hesitant to change their decision-making processes or may not be willing to invest the time and resources required to implement new data-driven approaches.
  5. Lack of awareness or understanding of the benefits of data analysis: Some business leaders may not fully understand the benefits of data analysis and how it can improve decision-making processes. They may need more education or training to appreciate the value of data analysis in their specific context.

Overall, it is essential for business leaders to have a strong data-driven decision-making culture, where they and their teams are comfortable working with data, understand its value, and can use it effectively to drive better outcomes.

Makes a lot of sense...am impressed, and You?

Any other thoughts ?

Thanks Olivier. In my experience, ChatGPT is very good in finding answers in existing bodies of knowledge. Probably those answers are the most repeated in many articles and books in the matter... we should remember that this is basically a statistical process. Don't misunderstand me, this is great and very useful, and it could save many of us a lot of time, but it is what it is ??

I see that this answer on 2nd May as stated is more realistic and acceptable. AI Is gaining experience day by day. Few months from now we could still have more precise answers. Co incidentally, I was trying to make a CNC programming for a turning Center and chatgpt made in few seconds which many years bsck I had spent lot many months to learn.

So Chat comes up with all of the TPC resistance sources from the CAP playbook Olivier. It is already frightening in the spirit of its answers, and getting cleverer every day! One day it may even understand the soul of what it writes too - I just wonder whether it will realise when that day has arrived...
