What is ChatGPT

ChatGPT was created by OpenAI, an AI and research company. The company launched ChatGPT on November 30, 2022. If the name of the company seems familiar, it is because OpenAI is also responsible for creating DALLE?2, a popular AI art generator, and Whisper, an automatic speech recognition system.?The chatbot isn’t exactly new; it’s an updated version of GPT-3 series, which has been around since 2020, released to solicit feedback to improve the chatbot’s safety and functionality. But it is the most powerful to date to be made widely available to the public. It’s also very easy to use. Just write a message, and ChatGPT will write back. Because it was trained on massive amounts of conversational text, it will do so in a relatively natural, conversational way.

Concept used in ChatGPT

For those unfamiliar with GANs, they are a type of neural network that uses two competing networks — a generator and a discriminator — to create realistic-looking outputs. The generator creates fake outputs, and the discriminator tries to tell the difference between the fake outputs and real-world data. Through this back-and-forth process, the GAN is able to produce outputs that are indistinguishable from real data.

ChatGPT takes this concept and applies it to text-based conversation. It uses GANs to generate responses to input text, allowing it to engage in natural-sounding conversations with humans.

But here’s the catch — ChatGPT’s responses only touch reality at a tangent. While they may sound convincing, they are ultimately fictional creations of the GAN.

This might sound like a drawback, but it actually makes ChatGPT incredibly useful. Because it isn’t tied to the constraints of reality, ChatGPT can engage in completely imaginary conversations and provide creative, out-of-the-box responses.

OpenAI ChatGPT's key strengths are that the dialogue format makes it possible for ChatGPT to answer follow-up questions, admit its mistakes, challenge incorrect premises, and reject inappropriate requests.

Still, ChatGP requires scope for improvements, especially in getting real-time information and accuracy of the data, but for sure in the future, most of the limitations will be solved and it’s a revolutionary new tool for conversation generation.
