ChatGPT isn't for you. Unless it is.

ChatGPT isn't for you. Unless it is.

ChatGPT isn't for you. Unless it is.

Unless you've been living under a rock for the past 3 months then you'll have heard about ChatGPT.

It's awesome. No lie. It will change Google's business model and change the way we use products and apps, within 6 months.

But here's the thing. It's not for you. It's not perfect and doesn't provide all the answers. Some of the answers it provides are just plain wrong.

Be patient, wait a while and it'll get better. Don't use it because it's the next new thing. New things aren't very good.

Find your use case

If your business is content and opinion, then fire away, there's a ton of value, but for fact-based businesses, it's not for you. At least, not yet. Here are a few ideas:

  • Create draft emails and articles
  • Summarize meeting notes
  • Write code snippets in Javascript and Python
  • Write a bedtime story for your kids, personalized for them
  • Create data tables of comparison between different products
  • Translate text into any language
  • Sentiment analysis of reviews on your website. Is it positive, negative or neutral
  • Idea generation for content

Automate everything

There is an API for GPT-3 (which is not the same as ChatGPT, for the record) but not yet for ChatGPT, although it's rumoured to be coming very soon. You can build an integration with Zapier or Make.com's native OpenAI integrations, very easily, to get access to GPT-3 and start to summarize and build content drafts in seconds. If you create text content, then you should seriously consider adding AI to your arsenal.

We fear change

Anything new is exciting, but also terrifying. Existing systems close ranks. Some embrace change and some reject it. Expect to see more of this until ChatGPT and rival platforms reach more maturity. Microsoft has famously embraced this change and invested heavily in the tech, others will fight it tooth and nail. You will need to pick a side at some point. It's worth noting that this backlash will likely include being penalized for using AI-generated content in your website and articles. If you think of AI as a draft writer, you don't need to start with a blank page, which every writer knows is their nemesis. Then let it inspire you to greater things and topics you had never considered.

The bleeding edge

The first person through the door always gets bloody

Whilst ChatGPT supposedly has over 100m users (Feb 2023) they are all very early. Early means you can steal a march on competitors and find what works best for you. Work with an expert to find the right use case for you and use the tool to serve you best in your business.

Chat GPT might not be the answer to all your prayers, but it can grant you wishes you never dreamed of. You can even ask it for 100 more wishes.

NB: This was written by me, not ChatGPT. Although it can write rhymes as well. Like I just did.
