ChatGPT for HR: 5 Use Cases

At this year's Gartner ReimagineHR, everyone is talking about AI, and what has me terrified, intrigued and excited, is ChatGPT.

Zo? Cannings FCIPD and the team at Oracle showed me some use cases for HR that could be released as early as the end of this year in their Cloud HCM product.

What is ChatGPT?

A tool that understands your very normally written question, request or prompt and uses public data, to create a comprehensive (and eerily) human-like answer, instantly.

Here's an example:

Zoe and the Oracle team showed me how ChatGPT can be used in an HR setting through 'assisted authoring' i.e. drafting text for you, or 'summarisation' of information.

1. Goals

Entering three words like 'improve presentation skills' can create fully formed goals with the click of a button, saving time and helping employees and managers articulate what they need to do to meet their objectives.

1. Performance Appraisals

Managers can enter their rough notes and have full feedback and evaluations drafted for them to review and edit.

1. Job Requisitions

Job descriptions, requisitions and adverts can be drafted in seconds for teams to tailor and tweak.

1. Personal Profile

Part of OracleME (their personalised employee experience platform) allows employees to write free text about themselves. ChatGPT can take on the difficult and even awkward task of writing a bio about oneself.

1. Generating CVs and Applications

ChatGPT can instantly create a CV, job application or cover letter for candidates as a starting point.

These HR use cases raise a lot of questions for me around transparency, use of data, and the rules, regulations and ethics that will keep everyone safe. I'll be discussing these with our AI team back at Veran Performance HQ.
