ChatGPT Helped Write This Article.

I think I'm going to be out of a job in the near future. Or at least one of my jobs. I help my clients build copy and content that converts. I specifically try to match buyer pain points and journeys to my clients' product benefits and features. I build the story on a specific architecture designed to progressively gain attention and bring customers further into their world. And I help simplify their complex technical information into usable language. I like to say that my superpower is doing the "Tech to Human" translation.

That superpower was just demonstrated in an AI.

This week, I like many others have discovered the awesome power of OpenAI's new ChatGPT. What is ChatGPT? Why don't I let it tell you itself:

Introducing ChatGPT: the next generation of language processing technology

ChatGPT is a cutting-edge natural language processing (NLP) system that offers unprecedented accuracy and speed in understanding and responding to human language. Developed by OpenAI, ChatGPT is based on the GPT-3 language model, which has been trained on a massive amount of data and can generate human-like text with impressive accuracy and fluency.

One of the key features of ChatGPT is its ability to carry out conversations in a way that is natural and intuitive for humans. This makes it ideal for use in a variety of applications, from customer service and support, to personal assistants and chatbots. With ChatGPT, you can interact with a virtual assistant in a way that feels like you are talking to a real person, making it easier and more efficient to get the information you need.

Another advantage of ChatGPT is its speed and flexibility. Because it is based on a powerful language model, ChatGPT can process and respond to large amounts of data quickly, allowing it to handle complex conversations and requests with ease. Additionally, ChatGPT can be easily customized and integrated into a variety of different systems and applications, making it a versatile and powerful tool for a wide range of uses.

Overall, ChatGPT is a revolutionary NLP system that offers a new level of accuracy and natural language processing. With its ability to handle complex conversations and adapt to a variety of different uses, ChatGPT is an exciting advancement in language technology that has the potential to transform how we interact with computers and machines.

That section was written in less than 5 seconds with a simple query: "Write an article about ChatGPT for LinkedIn". But it's so much more powerful than that. People have been using it to generate code. To summarize information. To answer questions. To write stories.

Testing ChatGPTs Capabilities

I decided to do some tests with it over the last few days. I asked it to write a story about Captain Picard and the Borg, just to see what it could do. It wrote the following:

One cool story involving Captain Picard and the Borg could be as follows:

In this story, Captain Picard and the crew of the USS Enterprise are on a mission to explore a new region of space when they encounter a massive Borg cube. The Borg, a collective of cybernetic beings, immediately attack the Enterprise, and a fierce battle ensues. Despite the Enterprise's advanced weapons and shields, the Borg prove to be a formidable enemy, and the ship is badly damaged.

As the situation grows more desperate, Captain Picard has a daring idea. He orders the Enterprise to engage its warp drive and ram the Borg cube at maximum speed. The impact of the collision destroys both ships, but it also disrupts the Borg's collective consciousness, causing them to lose coordination and focus. This allows the Enterprise's surviving crew members to escape and regroup.

In the aftermath of the battle, Captain Picard is hailed as a hero for his bold and risky strategy. Despite the heavy losses suffered by the Enterprise, the crew is able to celebrate their victory over the Borg, and they return home with a newfound sense of pride and determination.

It's not the best Star Trek story ever written, but it's arguably better than some of the stories that have come out recently. But it's a story! The AI had to pull information about Star Trek lore and characters, understand the context, and build a narrative. This is only going to get more advanced as time goes on.

I asked it who would win in a battle between a Borg Cube and the Death Star and it gave me a series of for and against arguments about which one would win under different scenarios. I don't know if it's looking up past online discussions or if it's creating original content.

I asked it to translate an article from English to French and it did a better job than Google Translate.

I asked it to simplify some copy that was in a client whitepaper and it did an exceptional job.

I had it write me a workout routine and it generated one.

I'm still testing its capabilities and I'm blown away by what it can do. I don't know if it's a tool that makes my job easier, or if I'm soon to be replaced. Perhaps there's a future in writing Star Trek novels if ChatGPT takes over.

This is equal parts scary and very cool ??

Kevin, how do you rate this copy vs your own efforts: worse, same, better?
