Is CHATGPT down?

It was as if the world had crashed, bringing fear and terror, feelings of fear and trepidation, as hundreds, maybe thousands, of users tried to log into CHATGPT this morning and were faced with a very simple error message:

The mystery, however, is that the official support page from OpenAI says that all systems are operational. --> https://status.openai.com/. No incidents reported for March 21st.

Okta writes that "a 502 bad gateway message indicates that?one server got an invalid response from another. In essence, you've connected with some kind of interim device (like an edge server) that should fetch all of the bits you need to load the page. Something about that process went wrong, and the message indicates the problem".

Many users cite possible reasons for the error:

Sebby - "The reason appears to derive from the issue pointed out in the resolved portion of the status page. That is, that chat history is still unavailable as a resource for chatGPT, hence why we can’t access it. I wish that they didn’t mark it as resolved and actually addressed it online".

There is a report on Bloomberg where they report that OpenAI temporarily shut down its popular ChatGPT service after receiving reports of a bug that allowed some users to see the titles of other users' chat histories.

A representative from OpenAI said that the titles could be seen in the user-history sidebar, which is usually on the left side of the ChatGPT page. The chatbot was turned off temporarily after the company heard about these problems, a company spokesperson said. The content of the other users' conversations was obscured.

According to the spokesperson, the problem was caused by a bug in an unnamed open-source software. The exact cause is still being investigated by the company.

ChatGPT reopened Monday night, but users' chat histories were still missing as of late Monday night Pacific time.

"History is temporarily unavailable," read a message in the location where a user's ChatGPT queries and responses are normally stored. "We're working hard to get this feature back up and running as soon as possible."

The spokesperson said in a statement Monday night, "ChatGPT is now back online, and we are working to bring chat history back online as well."

So the issue could be related, but in the meantime it is back to the ole google search and writing your own articles.
