I have always leveraged technology to help me find better ways to improve the efficiency of my projects.

Unfortunately, I sustained some limitations in movement, making sustained efforts like typing and mouse manipulation difficult. I am at a physical point where I need nearly total assistance in this area.

I have been using accessible modes, including Word Dictate, like I'm doing now, to complete work to the best of my ability, with limitations.

So, I thought I would try AI via ChatGPT and DALL-E to see if it was a viable way of substituting what my hands can't do, as I have never been in this situation before with accessibility issues.

Instead of something complicated, I thought I would modify a short story.

I proposed fleshing out a short, suspenseful story I had lying around in some old files from when I used to write for fun (remember those days? Lol).

I uploaded it and gave ChatGPT and DALL-E continuous instructions, over two weeks, on the storyline and how I wanted the characters portrayed, using "Windows Dictate".

I used DALL-E for image creation.

The story and image modification and creation took around two weeks to complete.

It took around 12 days for ChatGPT to be trained and provide enough feedback before it could start better interpreting my requests, and writing them more clearly.

Image creation by DALL-E was a different matter altogether.

Due to DALL-E's limitations, the images in that short story took nearly four days and literally over a hundred images to complete to generate the few that are in the short story.

A perfect example would be this:

Me: "Create an image that places Five Characters in an office space."

I would get SIX Characters.

Me: "How many characters do you see?"

DALL-E: I see "Five Characters"

Me: "There are Six Characters in the image! Remove one."

DALL-E: "I am sorry. I am still learning and will make mistakes. The next image generated will have Five Characters."

>>> The Next Image generated now has SEVEN Characters in an entirely different location.

We went back and forth, going for every single image, whether it was the number of characters, location, background, or concepts.

The dialogue between DALL-E and I reminded me of that Star Trek episode with Captain Picard yelling at the end, "I see FOUR LIGHTS!"

Once the user trains ChatGPT through repetition and input, I believe through personal experience, it can be used for creative writing while expressing what you want to convey to your readers.

I have attached the completed short scary-ish story, which cost frazzled human nerve endings, smoking AI circuit boards, and a lot of work for my dentist due to the sustained teeth-grinding damage.

Working with AI CAN work for those with accessibility needs but, it won't just create the Magna Carta. It needs to be guided and mentored to create the output you desire. It will take effort but I believe it is worth the trouble.
