Clearing the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) prelims exam is an arduous feat due to its daunting nature, with a?success rate of only 25%. The UPSC conducts one of the toughest and most competitive exams in India to select candidates for various prestigious positions in civil services, including IAS, IPS, IFS and others.?
In February, when we made?ChatGPT (powered by GPT-3.5) attempt UPSC prelims, it failed miserably. Out of 100 questions (Paper 1), the AI chatbot was able to answer?only 54 questions correctly. Its inability to clear the exam became a source of pride for many aspirants.?
However, in the last two-three months, things have changed significantly in the AI landscape. Most notably, OpenAI released?GPT-4, which is one of the most advanced?large language models?to date. This new model was made accessible by OpenAI through?ChatGPT Plus, a paid and improved version of ChatGPT. We used the latest version of ChatGPT to try and check if it was able to clear UPSC prelims this time.?
The result: Out of 100 questions, it was able to answer 86 correctly. Given the cut-off for the previous year was 87.54 marks, the GPT-4 powered chatbot scored 162.76 marks. In other words, ChatGPT in its second attempt successfully cleared UPSC prelims.?
Happiest Minds Smiles?

The company told?AIM?that it has already started investing in generative AI technology, and sees huge potential to improve efficiency and productivity. “We have been working on generative AI for about three or four years now,” said Joseph Anantharaju, Happiest Minds’ CEO, Product engineering services, saying that they have been using BERT models, and when ChatGPT API came out, they instantly started developing solutions on top of it, alongside exploring PoCs and industry-specific use cases.?
Will You Trust Your Money with ChatGPT Fund Managers??
ChatGPT is already making its way into the world of?HR,?legal,?data science, and?politics, to name a few. Now, it is being tested as a fund manager – a precarious step in stock management. Recently, a finance website showed that?ChatGPT picked a theoretical stock portfolio?of 38 companies that outperformed the S&P 500.?
This experiment was carried out for a duration of eight weeks (from March to April), where the ChatGPT-selected funds climbed 4.93%. However, a group of 10 popular funds in the UK suffered a loss of 0.78%. Interestingly, the chatbot’s funds outperformed real funds in 34 out of 39 market days.?
For sure promising results, but does this experiment qualify ChatGPT as a reliable fund manager??Read to find out.
