ChatGPT can help you ace a job interview, says ex-Disney recruiter — here’s how

If you’re anything like me, you may use ChatGPT to find new recipes, plan content on social media or brainstorm trivia questions for game night.

Turns out the artificial intelligence chatbot could also help you land your next job, says Simon Taylor, an ex-Disney recruiter and longtime HR executive.

Job seekers can use ChatGPT to do mock interviews , Taylor tells my colleague Gili Malinsky. The mobile app allows you to speak to it out loud and get a back-and-forth going — a feature available for users who subscribe to the app’s premium version, for $20 per month.

Here’s how to use it, Taylor says:

• Step 1: Paste the job description into ChatGPT.
• Step 2: Say, “I want to conduct a mock interview based on this job description."
• Step 3: Select “voice mode” in the app.

“Even if it doesn’t give you a 100%, spot-on critique of your interview, it will almost certainly give you feedback that will be helpful,” says Taylor, adding, “I would probably ignore some of the encouragement that it gives me and focus more on where it’s saying, ‘You missed this,’ or, ‘You could have done more of that.’”

It’s worth remembering that ChatGPT has a tendency to give inaccurate or confusing responses. Still, as someone who experiences a bit of anxiety from mock interviews with other people, I get the allure of a low-stress way to practice my answers and get better.
