ChatGPT, Bard, and AI Can't Compete with Digital Marketing (or Can it?)

You turn on the internet and see platforms currently bombarded with basic to rather thought-provoking searches: "What is ChatGPT?", "What's Google Bard?", "ChatGPT vs Bard: which one's the winner?", "How will generative AI change business?", "Will ChatGPT, Bard impact SEO?", "How will generative AI disrupt society?", "Is the doomsday of digital marketing near?"
So, what's the take?
The thing with these tools and generative AI is that the responses generated to the prompts are great, but they aren't perfect. These tools and platforms will save you time, but they require human intervention.
Let's go back to 2016 to understand better. That time experienced the emergence of technologies like Siri, Google Assistant, Cortana, and Alexa, which were regarded as "SEO killers." But guess what? Danny Sullivan (Google) responded along these lines: – every year there is a constant increase in traffic to the open web regardless of the development of such technologies. Why? The type of content it generates may be useful for branding purposes but is less likely to generate direct sales.

So, will it impact SEO or Digital Marketing anyway? Yes and no!
Why yes? As noticed in Bard's preview, the AI-generated response will be followed by two types of featured snippets on mobile: a "Read More" link carousel and a related questions snippet. It's safe to assume organic results will follow those.
And, why not? It doesn't matter whether the content has been written by a human or generated by a bot. What matters is high-quality content and how people respond to the content. The search engine algorithm looks for experience, expertise, authority, and trust. Not to mention that the generative AI response is actually the sum of the published content. So, it not only misses uniqueness but can also be factually incorrect, as in the case of Bard.
So, even though ChatGPT reached one million users in five days or Bard's goof-up tanked Google's stonks by $100 billion, having factually correct, well-researched, and authoritative content is the key to future ranking results and website traffic. (Source: Indylogix)
