ChatGPT: AI on Steroids?
Dear reader, welcome to another Standup, compliments of season and happy holidays! I hope you are having a good time. I didn't have any intentions to take your time this holiday period, but I really wanted to have this Standup. Have you heard of ChatGPT, the revolutionary Artificial Intelligence System that is being talked about? I mean, have you experienced the amazing technology and has it solved any of your problems? If you have used the AI, I am sure you were super impressed and in disbelieve about the results the AI could deliver. In today's Standup, we will be exposing this technology, how it operates as well as the prospects for its sustainability.
What is ChatGPT?
ChatGPT is a chatbot launched by OpenAI in November 2022 and built on top of OpenAPI's GPT 3.5 family of large language models. It is also optimized with reenforced and supervised learning techniques. One striking feature of this chatbot is its fast response and its detailed, majorly correct and articulate answers. Also, the AI is very versatile and can produce answers from different fields and discipline.
Just like any other AI, ChatGPT, the chatbot, is built to mimic human performance, intuition and conversationalist tendencies, but as a plus, the chatbot is able to improvise and perform high-level functions like writing and debugging computer programs, compose music, student essays, write codes with different languages, answer test questions, and has the capacity to do more task like emulate a Linux system and simulate an ATM system. For tasks ordinary humans can perform, the chatbot does it above an average level.
Another striking feature about this chatbot, is its capacity to remember previous prompts given to it in the same requests or in the same conversation. This makes it an interactive chatbot and gives that human like and organic behavior. The chatbot also has the capacity to filter results and remove offensive contents. To prevent offensive contents from being produced, the queries are filtered through OpenAI's companywide AI and offensive contents are dismissed. Furthermore, the AI is built to deliver results in standard English as well as in different languages.
The response from users of this technology has been very positive. Infact, users have been left dumbfounded and shocked. The speed, organization and versatility remain a unique selling point for this technology.

Limitations:
One major limitations of this technology that could affect the sustainability of this technology, is the absence of an official peer reviewed technical paper about this technology, that explains the core problems it tends to solve and a proposed roadmap. Also, as correct the responses it gives might be, the chatbot sometimes produces plausible sounding but nonsensical answers. Also, the chatbot has limited knowledge of events that happened after 2021 and cannot provide information on some celebrities. It has also been noticed that some of the responses given by the chatbot, are ambiguous and need to be simplified to be applied as answers to specific tasks.
The impact of this technology in the long run cannot be correctly projected. It has been opined that this chatbot could replace search engines like Google, Opera Mini and the likes. Some schools of thought have disagreed with that stance and believes that the technology is still novel and has to build necessary infrastructure to become a sustainable technology that has the capacity to compete closely with major search engines. Also, the negative impact this technology has on education and research has also been captured as a drawback of this technology.
The technology is still in its peak period, as more users onboard the platform. Whether this technology becomes very sustainable depends on its continuous improvement, clear vision and its utility. Do you think ChatGPT is here to stay or is it just on steroids? Tell me about your view in the comment session of this post.
Thanks for being part of today's standup! Enjoy the rest of the holidays.

2 年Just like Omowunmi said, Ai is here to stay and it's gaining momentum in a very short time. The ChatGPT of a thing is an experiment, still in iteration, I think. You don't expect a product that will compete with the likes of Google to come perfect at first right? What I think is, let's wait and see how it unfolds, I believe the team is working to update and make it perfect as it can be. My concern is the viability of AI, people need not think as it does everything you can imagine which I think is gonna have adverse effects on humans' reasoning in the long run. This is insightful Tony, keep it up ??

2 年Sure! The AI system is definitely here to stay, considering how eventful 2022 has been in the AI space. Tools that didn't exist a year ago are now popularized. You'll even get one that'll help you with your emails - Email Ai. ?? Really, great advancement. This is literally the future. But one of the worries for users now is that Openai is considering a watermark, more like a signal for AI-generated content. Until then, we will watch the tech space like a bat. Great piece you have there Anthony. Welldone. ??
