ChatGPT 4 is my Front-end Developer

I am not a front-end developer, but I must do specific code changes for my solo projects. ChatGPT 4 is a developer that helps me get things done!

For a new project, I needed to add JavaScript to listen for button clicks and send them to an analytics platform. I didn't know how to do this, and the documentation didn't give an example of the JavaScript event tracker. So I asked ChatGPT to read the analytics' documentation to understand the specific data we should send. Then, I asked it to tell me how to merge the JavaScript event tracking with the analytics code. ChatGPT had all the needed knowledge to complete the task, and it provided me with the required code and explained how to implement it.

Then I realized I needed to track multiple buttons, so I asked ChatGPT how to do that. It updated the code to have the event listener and a new section so I could add as many buttons (events) as I needed.

These might be simple tasks for a front-end developer, but it takes a lot of time for non-developers to figure out. I would usually define what I wanted to do and have a developer implement those changes. Now, with ChatGPT, you can provide the needed information and talk with the AI (ChatGPT) to get a solution.

Overall, these are fundamental changes in how we work and how we get things done. Over the last months, I believe my biggest learning is that tools like ChatGPT can enable you to do many things. You just need to provide it with the required info and talk through your problems, and you'll get solutions!
