Chat GPT is a lazy six year old

I used to be a primary teacher

And I was well used to stories my best writers would create that would start off with a bang, and then in 150 or so words would run out of puff.

The princess was chasing the dragon, it was all building up and then they’d write…

“And then she caught him and he died. The end”

Because somewhere along the way the writer was just a little bit tired and could not be bothered keeping up with the detail

And THIS is chatGPT to a T.

This week I hosted a masterclass with the amazing Michelle Sokolich on video marketing

(she was amazing!)

I downloaded the transcript and loaded it up into chat GPT and asked it very specific questions that it had to answer using ONLY the source material it provided.

What it did was use it at the beginning of each reply then just fill it up with stuff that looked good but Michelle did not say.

It even recommended platforms and solutions she’d expressly told people she didn’t like, and didn’t mention the ones she did!

And while I never would have talked to the six year olds in my class the way I talked to chatGPT, I did tell it to DO BETTER.

If I hadn’t been at the masterclass, taken copious notes AND known the subject, I’d have never known it was wrong.

I LOVE using chatGPT and other AI tools to help me find information in transcripts, books, and documents.?

But I also know it’s not always going to be accurate (sometimes it even makes direct quotes up!)

It’s a reminder that an over dependence on chatGPT and not checking it can be a dangerous thing

This is your reminder - if you wouldn’t let a six year old near your marketing and business content, perhaps be wary of how much you let chatGPT near it too

Always READ IT AND CHECK IT before you use it

Ok?

Rachel

PS: I teach my marketing and coaching clients how to use chatGPT / other ai tools? in many innovative and clever ways to make marketing easier, while maintaining you integrity, personal voice and authority building.? That with the simple system I teach gets them sales with less effort from their marketing

Need that? Let’s talk. Send me a dm and we'll make a time.?

Expecting Chat-GPT to be correct is like assuming that everything on the Internet is true ?? Or as Steve Martin's character in Home says:

I've lost count of the times I've told Chat GPT (and other AI!) off for getting fundamental things wrong. And at times, this is really is worrying - I know those things are incorrect because of my decades of professional experience - someone who is inexperienced will not know the details are wrong.
