CHAT GPT - Giant Pretense Trend?

Chat GPT has received a lot of buzz in recent weeks. Some are concerned that this could replace many roles real estate agents perform as it relates to providing consumers with information and insights. Some agents see it as a means of replacing support staff to take on more menial tasks such as writing property descriptions or newsletters. Artificial Intelligence is not THAT new in real estate and at COMPASS we have been using it for quite some time already....


This is how I see ALL technology, including AI and CHAT GPT. It all boils down to the DNA we have embedded in COMPASS:?high tech AND high touch. The hybrid of both is what works best in my mind....what?little is left of my mind.?I think technology can be enormously helpful in storing data, and it can provide, propose and suggest things. After that I believe it's important for the human - us - to edit and extrapolate and verify that which is pertinent and relevant. A Chat GPT description of a property may sound wonderful, but like a lot of broker babble, it might not be 100% accurate, carry weight or be substantive,?and/or lack authenticity. In a world where the sound of what we say seems to matter lots, I?think we have a responsibility to focus on the SUBSTANCE of our communications.?


Using CHAT GPT for?a suggested description that can be edited is great. Maybe it proposes words, or language we may not have considered or mastered yet. But beware: at first when I started to receive BOT calls - speaking to that annoying 'automated-human-that-almost-sounds-human' - I was impressed, and often conned into believing the 'person' at the other end was real. Soon I figured out which caller was real and which was a robot.....and it fueled the most dangerous of marketing responses: ANGER. And then.....distrust.


I felt duped. I felt like I did not matter to the 'other side'. I felt they were being fraudulent. Inauthentic. Deceptive. These are not words we like to associate with high end marketing or customer service....EVER. Would anyone like consumers to be distrustful of everything we message? While at first alternative facts can appear true - especially when magnified via mass repetition - once their deception has been revealed, the backlash can be destructive and debilitating.

It will at least make them more efficient. For example we automate the creation of real estate videos (automated listing-to-video) mechanized.io thanks to ChatGPT and AI
