Chat GPT changing the way we work and think. Is it time to re-evaluate your business strategy?

As busy professionals, it's easy to become consumed by the mundane, day-to-day tasks and responsibilities that come with completing a to-do list. However, what if we had more time to devote to creative thinking and problem-solving?

One could argue that ticking off daily tasks provides a sense of accomplishment. However, what if the list continues to grow and become overwhelming? What if these repetitive tasks could be easily automated with the help of a super intelligent assistant, trained in various subjects, books, and fields of knowledge? This could be an incredible way to streamline and cut to the more interesting aspects of your work. Here we are not talking about the future, we are talking about today.

If you're thinking about how this tech could increase your productivity and save time, be careful. While generative AI is excellent for refining ideas, iterating on your thinking, and improving outcomes, the focus should remain on quality rather than quantity. How can you use the incredible capabilities of AI to enhance our work?

There is no doubt that individual tasks, team structures, and organizational models will continue to evolve, and sooner rather than later.

Business leaders and professionals must be ready for this shift. Understanding the capabilities of AI and considering how it can help solve specific challenges in your context are crucial first steps.

  1. Cultivate a culture of learning. This is just the start of the Generative Change. As we see the tech models learn and evolve, we need to be learning alongside them how to work together.
  2. As a step two start experimenting and test your thinking. Use AI as a debate partner or value-add contributor. This is an excellent way to grasp the concepts.
  3. As a third base, create a team of AI champions who understand the technology's capabilities, risks, and challenges. They can help promote responsible AI use in your business, both internally and externally.
  4. Think of the challenges in your specific business context now. What are the use cases?

Ultimately, you need to return to the drawing board and consider the initial problem or challenge that your business is solving. Fall in love with it again and think creatively. How can generative AI augment your solution. Think about your vision, mission, and how AI capabilities can improve outcomes for your customers.

It's important to remember that the solution drives the technology, not the other way around.

What I did this week:

  • My local Peregian Digital Hub hosted a three-day AI hands-on workshop facilitated by the brilliant Pip Bingemann from Trilingual . Pip took us through prompts and tech that can help build a new brand, come up with a vision, mission, positioning statement, and create the necessary copy to market and launch the idea. It was nothing short of brilliant and showcased the immense power of ChatGPT. One takeaway is that ChatGPT provides an excellent starting point that can save you many hours. However, it is just that - a good start. There is still plenty of room for adjustments and modifications. The process was great for generating ideas and approaches, but in some cases, we had to scrap what it came up with entirely and write the statements ourselves. Some bits were brilliant, and some were terrible or repetitive. Nevertheless, this is an incredible way to speed up the process, iterate on your thinking and approach, develop a brand, understand the competition, and create plans to launch it. And it's all at your fingertips. Go explore! ????
  • I also hosted a LinkedIn Live Office Hours session with Shamane Tan . We talked about influencing executives at work, and how to utilise ChatGPT to help structure your conversation.
