Chasing the sun - supporting Audley's Charitable Foundation

Eversheds Sutherland are delighted to be supporting Audley’s Charitable Foundation.?Whilst we’ve supported Audley over many years, this year John Nettleton, Audley’s Land Director, chose to ask for our support for something a little different - cycle from Ilkley to Tunbridge Wells stopping at Audley’s wonderful retirement villages on route and to raise money for the Foundation along the way to support older people.?

John assured me that it wasn’t planned that each village is approximately 70 miles apart which meant that each day was a decent distance.?I joined John for the Monday slot after my colleague Karen Mutton handed over from the Sunday leg.?After a cracking weekend of sunshine it was looking dubious for the Monday.?As luck would have it we started off from the impressive St George’s in Edgbaston and the weather just got better and better as did the cycling which helped us to cycle out of any spots of rain along the way.?

After 5 hours of cycling and a couple of stops along the way we arrived at the spectacular Ellerslie Retirement village in Malvern.?The views were magnificent as was the weather which made for a wonderful drink in the sun on the courtyard prior to cycling to the train station to get a lift back to Leeds!! Thanks to John, Jane and the Audley team for a cracking day with wonderful hospitality at the retirement villages that we visited.?Now John just has to ride a further 300 miles and he’s done…. allez allez allez.
