Chasing Hurricanes

Friday, I was a guest on IAQA Radio with Joe Hughes, and Cliff Zlotnik discussing the challenges for restoration companies that are chasing the hurricane restoration business in Texas, Florida and Puerto Rico.

As I have handled 6 and 7 figure hurricane restoration losses in all of those areas myself, I have empathy and sympathy for the restoration guys on the ground working there tonight.  

Too many times, restoration companies are driven by the adrenaline rush pumped up by news reports and do not approach chasing the hurricanes from a pure business approach. Sometimes its a crude as " let's get everything loaded and all the guys in the truck; ye ha we are on the road to riches. Jobs will be awaiting! And when the finally get there, other restoration companies are standing in line to give free estimates in hopes of making enough gas money to get home. 

Here is a marketing video that was shot after Hurricane Charlie hit Orlando and actually during Hurricane Francis. When the storm took the roof off the 11,000,000 cubic foot building we were drying out from Hurricane Charlie.

Maketing large losses is done 6 months ahead of time in my experience. 

Cliff and I go back a long way. Here is a picture of us together in 1981 when I joined his Restorx Franchise network. That as a lot of large commercial losses ago.
