This month, we sat down with our CEO Javier Marti to explore the inspiration and vision that have shaped our journey ??

?? What inspired you to start Divirod, and how did the idea come about?

Throughout my career, I have been deeply involved in developing some of the world’s most advanced technology infrastructure to tackle large-scale and complex physics challenges. My international career brought to places where I witnessed firsthand the devastating impacts of droughts and floods. I was struck by the outdated approaches to understand water dynamics and alert communities. Despite of its criticality, water was not treated holistically, systems were far from digital, and instruments were often inaccurate and not scalable. The resulting data ware sparse, riddled with gaps and inconsistencies, and prone to various errors. With such unreliable data inputs, prediction models became little more than guesswork, offering limited practical value. These realizations inspired me to found Divirod.

?? What motivated you to focus on water monitoring and environmental technology as the core of Divirod’s mission?

I know this might sound a bit unconventional, but witnessing the devastation caused by water-related disasters, I felt I couldn’t turn a blind eye. I saw it as a personal responsibility to take action. Leveraging my experience and ability to execute technically complex projects on a global scale, it felt natural to dedicate myself to tackling one of the most critical challenges of our time. It was a mission I couldn’t ignore, so I embraced the challenge wholeheartedly.

?? How do you envision the future of Divirod, and what are you most excited about for the next phase of growth?

I envision a future where Divirod revolutionizes how the world addresses water risks. I’m excited about building the most robust data platform that is capable of delivering reliable, actionable predictions. This platform will not only empower corporations to adapt and communities to better prepare for and respond to floods—potentially saving lives and livelihoods—but also help manage water resources in regions grappling with scarcity. The prospect of making a meaningful impact on both ends of the water crisis spectrum inspires me as we move into the next phase of growth.
