There is nothing I love more than a good charcuterie plate, especially when enjoyed outdoors with friends, overlooking a lovely vineyard and tasting wines from a small family-run winery.
At the start of the summer, while on a trip to Porto, some friends and I decided to visit one of the region's wineries. But rather than go to the well-trodden Douro Valley, we opted for a lesser-known gem.
The winery we visited was a boutique, family-run establishment located in the Green Valley. The owner gave us the tour himself. The wines are made in his former garage, and the tasting takes place on the balcony of his home. Big has its place in branding, but sometimes small is not only beautiful - but the point.
