Charlottesville: A Reminder

It has taken me a few days to come to terms with what has happened in Charlottesville, Virginia. Hatred, bigotry and racism have no place in a democracy where all people are created equal! Democracy is an ideal that is still emerging in a country, which is in its adolescence! We as Americans, regardless of birthplace, are at a crossroads in determining which way we will go and if and when we will grow up and out of the divisions that separate us into classes, colors and categories! If we are to survive, we must survive together as a united people! The future of our democracy is predicated on all of us building trust, spreading love and collaborating for a future where our children will not see skin tone, economic status or birth place as the right to deny the democratic ideals of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness! I truly believe that we can come together as one but we must do it sooner rather than later! In our heart of hearts we must know that a brighter day is ours to claim if we let trust, love and collaboration reign!
