Recent numbers suggest that may be the case. According to the Carolina MLS, which tracks housing sales and sale prices throughout North Carolina, April 2017 housing sales in Charlotte decreased 6.3 percent compared to house sales of April 2016. But the most surprising number is that the April 2017 sales are down 8.6 percent compared to March 2017.
April was the first month since July 2016 that house sales did not increase over the year.
This housing sale decline could possibly be explained away by a housing supply shortage compare to April 2016 but however the reason it’s definitely something we in the real estate industry have to be aware of.
