Charlotte Bowden

Hi! I’m Charlotte and I work with a dynamic team of Account Managers that support the growth and resilience of businesses here at the GBSLEP Growth Hub. My love for business sparked at university after studying Business Management; the course developed my interest in business strategy & growth. Since then, I have always found it intriguing to see how companies thrive, the challenges they face and overcome, what makes them work and fail, and everything in-between.?

Much of my career has been focused on sales, commercial growth, and client management. I have especially enjoyed the concept of relationship selling and it is why I am passionate about developing relationships and nurturing them. I have great people-skills and a friendly personality. I really enjoy getting to know people and listening to their business experiences. I believe the person behind the business is the heart-beat of its values and the way it operates.

Through my Account Manager role at the Growth Hub, as a growth and resilience specialist, I am privileged to work with business leaders across a wide range of sectors within the Greater Birmingham & Solihull region; who are all focused on growth. They have great devotion toward their company’s growth and success and therefore welcome my support to guide them along their journey. I help business owners with pivotal decision-making and strategy planning to take them to the next level. Through the relationships I build with owners, I become an extension of my clients’ businesses, offering advice and guidance when they need it. My proactive approach is a strength they appreciate too. Because I work with businesses so closely, I can see the impact I make, and it makes me feel very proud.

I firmly believe that peer support for business owners is imperative, especially for women. For that reason, I host and run a Women’s Learning & Networking 6-week programme. Bringing together female leaders from across the region to learn and discuss topics such as; business goals and barriers, sales, marketing, intellectual property, access to finance and more. This is one way how I aim to support and empower the region’s entrepreneurs and business leaders.

Due to the success of this programme, which has been running since 2021, there have been a series of success stories such as; the expansion of businesses, new jobs created?and creative partnerships?formed to support one another.

I have a strong desire too, to support female leaders to help close the pay gap. We must continue to encourage females into leadership positions; which is why I am also part of the Flourish business club. This club empowers women in business and encourages active networking within Birmingham, enabling more high-level opportunities to become accessible to women in business.

I also use my sales background, coupled with a desire to support a range of charities and CiCs to help these types of organisations with their sales strategies and plans. The goal is to enable them to have the commercial support they are entitled to, to help them to seek funding, be sustainable and achieve long-term growth for the benefit of society.

I am extremely passionate about Birmingham and the growth of businesses in the city. If you are looking for someone to advocate for your business, support, empower and grow, contact me through the GBSLEP Growth Hub ([email protected] and use the email heading: FAO Charlotte Bowden) or message me here on LinkedIn.

In the meantime, I encourage you to find out what my top business tips are and to action them!
