AMAZON TAKING A PAGE OUT OF WAL-MART'S PLAYBOOK

The e-commerce giant is reportedly developing a smart doorbell, according to CNBC. The product would allow delivery-people to access customers’ homes and leave packages inside, rather than on the porch. The move comes after Wal-Mart partnered with smart lock maker "August" last month, with plans to test a similar service. Amazon is also in talks with smart license plate maker Phrame. A deal could allow grocers to deliver orders straight to customers’ cars. Couriers would be able to use their smartphones to unlock a box holding car keys to put orders in the trunks.

NVIDIA SHARES SURGE

The chipmaker unveiled computer systems that can be used in autonomous vehicles. The tool, code named Project Pegasus, helps cars operate without pedals or steering wheels. The technology will be deployed in self-driving taxis, and Nvidia says it represents a tenfold increase to the capabilities of other systems. The company is also working on a fleet of autonomous trucks for delivery company DHL.

HELLOFRESH FILES FOR FRANKFURT IPO

The meal-kit delivery service hopes to fare better than rival Blue Apron. The company filed to go public in Germany on Tuesday, planning to raise more than $350 million at a valuation of about $1.8 billion. The do-it-yourself meal company is backed by venture capital firm Rocket Internet, which also took Germany's Delivery Hero public earlier this year. That company's shares are up 37% since their June debut. Blue Apron, however, has seen its stock cut nearly in half since its IPO.
