Charles Darrow gets off to a flying start in 2022

After a difficult 2020 trading period, Charles Darrow were pleased to bounce back in 2021, managing to return to pre-covid levels of business.

The south west regional property agency, which specialises in Commercial Property, Business Sales and Auctions have kicked off 2022 in style, with trade during the first two months of 2022 being the best start to a year they have experienced so far.

Charles Darrow deals with a range of different property transactions from commercial lettings, to auction properties and the sale of multi-million pound hotels.

Paul Heather, Director of Charles Darrow commented: “I believe our early success in 2022 is down to how we structured the company during 2021. Preparing for the post-pandemic market, put us in a robust position ready to deal with the increased demand for property in 2022, much of it pent up from the preceding years of inactivity in the property market. We have concentrated on areas of our business where there is the most activity and even recruited new staff in 2021 to deal with this, this comes at a time when many property agencies have struggled to keep their doors open.

Notable transactions a far in 2022 include the sale of John Gandy’s in Exeter, it was acquired by a bar group founded by Dragons' Den investor Sarah Willingham which is rolling out its latest opening in Exeter as part of major expansion plans. Nightcap - listed on Aim - will open The Cocktail Club in Exeter in April.

The East Dart Hotel on Dartmoor was bought by lifestyle buyers relocating to the Westcountry and the Olive Tree Restaurant in Bude was bought by local hospitality operators.

Charles Darrow’s Auctions have proved ever popular with 100% of our auction lots in 2022 being sold with a number of attractive lots in their March 17th auction.

The company is optimistic for the remainder of the year and with many more transactions in the pipeline 2022 is shaping up to be a record year.
