Charles Bridge - Prague Czech Rep.
This is a marine project in Prague, Czech Republic. They are replacing the ice protection (made of timber) at each pier. What is remarkable about the project? This is the Charles Bridge which is now only open to pedestrians. Construction on the bridge started in 1357 and finished in 1402. This is before Columbus discovered America! And it replaced a bridge that washed away that was finished in 1172. In the US an old bridge would be maybe built in the 1940’s. What a responsibility the crew has on this barge working next to this old of structure. Construction work in Europe certainly has unique challenges.
If you every visit Prague you will certainly walk over this bridge as it is one of the premier tourist sites due to its beauty and history. I got to run over bridge which is certainly the oldest bridge I will ever get to run over.
