The Charity Corner is releasing its 4th newsletter and we are ecstatic to see it doing so well and it being loved by so many of our clients. Every quarter, we gather information from our charity partners to give people in the industry the opportunity to showcase events, good news stories, as well as the latest charity sector jobs and career opportunities amp; insights. Its been great to engage with so many different clients to gather information that will give back to the community. Over the last few months I have been working hard with some amazing new clients and I am excited to work with lots more charity professionals in the sector. I have been lucky enough to work with Scouts Cymru to find their new Director and we have successfully found an outstanding candidate who has already taken to the role like a star. I have also been working closely with DKMS The Blood Cancer Charity on a number of roles across their business, which have been extremely successful, and I look forward to the coming months of working with them. We have also set up The Charity Corner LinkedIn Group which we are encouraging all passionate charity individuals to join in order to connect, talk and support each other. I will be posting exciting and new opportunities that I have available, starting discussions and debates on hot topics in the sector, and supporting candidates to find their next role.

In the last Meet The CEO interview of 2023, Izzy chats to Menai Owen-Jones of LATCH charity about their 40 year history, challenges faced over the last 12 months, and why you should people before processes.

LATCH

LATCH Welsh Children’s Cancer Charity held a sparkling 40th Anniversary Tribute Dinner recently, hosted by Howell’s School in Cardiff.

The special event saw over 100 guests enjoying an evening of entertainment, tributes and presentations, reflecting on the past four decades of LATCH’s integral work in providing support to children with cancer and their families in Wales.?

The focus of the evening was to pay tribute to, and thank all those who have contributed to LATCH since it was founded in the early 1980s. Guests included representatives from the charity’s NHS Wales partner - Cardiff and Vale University Health Board, LATCH families, branches, volunteers, fundraisers and supporters over the years.

Today LATCH supports on average, at any one time, 120 families undergoing treatment for cancer or leukaemia at the Children’s Hospital for Wales through providing practical, financial and emotional support..

During 2023, LATCH has appointed new charity patrons, hosted events including a Reception at the Senedd Welsh Parliament, held a Family Fun Day for its families and arranged a special 40th party for children inpatients on Rainbow Ward, (the paediatric oncology unit at the Children’s Hospital for Wales). Activities have taken place across Wales and thousands of pounds have been raised for LATCH, thanks to generous donations and fundraising.? The Tribute Dinner alone raised £8,000 (net profit) for the charity.

Countdown to Christmas

In the countdown to Christmas Day, we’ve been sharing a series of videos in advent calendar style on our social media channels. Behind each window is the inspiring tale of people we’ve kept the light on for. We were proud to kick off the campaign with the story of our wonderful Patron and Strictly Come Dancing star,?Amy Dowden, and her growing friendship with service-user Charlotte. We hope the campaign will help to spread the message about our services and hopefully raise vital funds so we can keep the light on for more people now and in the future. Join us on our channels to see more.
