Characteristics, classification and specific uses of silicone oil and silicone rubber
Both silicone oil and silicone rubber are silicone materials, which have different characteristics, classifications and uses.
Silicone oil is a colorless, transparent liquid composed of linear or cyclic polysiloxane, which has excellent high temperature resistance, ozone resistance, low temperature fluidity, good water resistance and electrical insulation. Silicone oils can be classified according to their different characteristics such as viscosity, molecular weight, and processing methods. It has a wide range of uses, including lubricants, insulating materials, preservatives, cosmetics, pharmaceutical intermediates, etc.
Silicone rubber is an elastomer composed of cross-linked siloxane chains, which can be divided into two types: room temperature vulcanization type and heat vulcanization type. Silicone rubber has excellent high temperature resistance, ozone resistance, oxidation resistance, chemical corrosion resistance, good electrical insulation and mechanical properties, as well as good stability and durability. According to different cross-linking methods and siloxane chain structures, silicone rubber is divided into different types such as methyl silicone rubber, vinyl silicone rubber, and phenyl silicone rubber. Silicone rubber is widely used in electronics, electrical appliances, automobiles, construction, medical, aviation and other fields, such as sealing materials, sound insulation materials, conductive materials, electronic components, rubber seals, etc.
Generally speaking, silicone oil and silicone rubber are materials with unique properties and are widely used. At the same time, they are widely studied and used in various fields because of their special properties.
