Character Reference, A New Midjourney Update! ??

Character Reference, A New Midjourney Update! ??

A fresh twist on the beloved Style Reference tool has just arrived in Midjourney , but this time it's all about characters...

For a long time now avid Midjourney users (like ourselves) have been asking to mirror the traits of a specific character image that we give to Midjourney in future generations. And now, it's finally possible!

Here's the rundown on how to harness this awesome new feature:

  • Cref: Add --cref URL right after your prompt, linking directly to the image of your desired character.

  • Fine-tune Your Focus: With the --cw option, you can dial in on how closely your creation matches your reference. Go all in with --cw 100 for a full match, or dial it back to --cw 0 to just capture the face, making it perfect for experimenting with new outfits or hairstyles.

A few more Midjourney tricks:

  • Blend with --sref to also match style references.
  • Merge traits from different inspirations by using multiple URLs (--cref URL1 URL2), akin to mixing image or style prompts

Now for the fun part... this is how character reference actually looks like!
