Chapter X - The Big Apple

Not long ago, we set our sights on moving to the biggest & baddest city in the world - NYC. We landed in a great ‘classic six’ co-op apartment, in a great 100 year old building, on a great block at 84th & Park, in a great hood (UES). As a naive Canadian, I’ll chalk a good part of that up to beginner’s luck! From the MoMA to the unlimited brilliant restaurants to the sheer diversity, we are thoroughly soaking up this chapter. But, we realize that for us it is a chapter, not a book.

We miss sipping coffee on the porch, driving down winding country roads, hanging out by the pool, and taking peaceful walks down to Lola's Cove at night. There's something special about being just outside of a big city.

The other day my wife said she wanted to start planning our next chapter. She had already done some reading and wanted us to spend the next few weeks or months looking into Bronxville, Scarsdale, Greenwich CT, and some other suburbs that are just a ‘Go Train’ ride away from the office in Meatpacking.

I told her AgentSpace could do that for us while we watched Seinfeld. I'm already banned from wearing Google logowear and talking about Gemini at the dinner table, but this was new - a new level of nerdiness. I spent about three minutes writing a prompt that included our situation, family, values, likes & dislikes.... I hit enter and watched my wife's face as Google's Research Agent went through 179 websites and created a 40-page report in less than five minutes. I asked her if she'd rather read it or listen to a podcast about it? I put the report in NotebookLM, hit Generate Audio Overview, and about 5 minutes later, boom! We were blown away by the podcast. It was super informative, interesting, and even funny at times.

From writing the prompt to listening to the podcast it took 20 minutes. The old-fashioned way would have taken hours over weeks. Of course, I'm now using all these tools to be more productive at work too.

I've been working in tech for over 30 years and this is a total game-changer! Honestly, if you want to stay ahead of the curve, you need to start using these tools. They'll free up so much time that you can spend binge-watching Seinfeld or just chilling on the porch with a Timmy’s in hand.
