Chapter ThreeThe Old Man in The Shop
Chapter three the Kielbasa
From time to time the old man went out on custom carpenter jobs. This time an old Polish couple answered his ad to put in a picture window and build them a closet. The job went quite well and the following year he received a call again from the same address to remodel their bathroom. Sadly the elderly Polish man had died and it was his widow who wanted the new bathroom. The old man worked very hard that day and into the evening. He was very tired at the end of the day. The widow offered him some supper and said that she had just finished cooking Kielbasa. Kielbasa is a Polish dish although in Eastern Europe and Russia it is popular as well.
The old carpenter had eaten Kielbasa before and absolutely did not like it. It tasted so bad to him that he vowed he would never eat Kielbasa again--ever! He had bought it at a local supermarket that specializes in beef and pork sausage a few years back and never finished the meal because it tasted so bad. But now here was an old Polish lady that had worked very hard that day making Kielbasa and was his repeat customer and well he couldn't just walk away and not even try the meal. He sat down to eat and wow! This was delicious. It tasted so good that he even asked for seconds. He asked the old lady why her Kielbasa was so good and she said it was the way they cook it in Poland. As the old man drove on the way home, he had learned something about life.
Don't think you are always right. You may learn something if you keep an open mind.
