Chapter 6 - Self Belief

“Congratulations Dhruv! It has been a year since….. and… and you have continuously proved yourself. It is simply amazing to see you grow like this”, said tribe leader proudly.

“It’s ok Leader, there is no need to feel awkward mentioning my lightning incident. It kinda proved like a blessing for me, although I can’t feel the difference as I still do not remember all that is blocked”, replied Dhruv.

“Would you follow me to my chamber? There are some things we still need to uncover.”

Dhruv and the leader departed from the inaugural ceremony of the renewable energy plant. Dhruv was the main reason behind that project, and bringing it to their village.

They have had great bonding since Dhruv was a kid and he used to help the leader when he was only a farm owner. Later, he became the leader of the tribe, and he continued to care for Dhruv, a kid without a father.

A year ago, Dhruv was nearly hit by a lightning strike while he was returning home after working in the fields. Dhruv had always been a reserved person, mainly because he got bullied in school because of his ambitions. That’s what happens with the misfits. Unfortunately, he blocked all of his ambitious spark while coping with the intense incidents of being bullied.?

But all those memories, along with the limiting beliefs Dhruv had, were lost when he partially lost his memory after the lighting accident. He was saved, but he suffered a few burns.

The leader took Dhruv to his chambers from the inaurgral ceremony, and showed the concerns he had for him.

“Dhruv, I have a slight fear that you may not get your memories at all. And what if all of it is gone somehow? What if more complications are discovered? You feel like a whole new person, which is a good thing, but also raises concerns as to how a person can change so much after an accident. You have helped our infrastructure a whole lot in this past year, it’s like that ambitious kid in you is on steroids”.

“Relax, leader! I think overthinking is clouding your belief in me. I think what happened was a lesson for us to know that we are all puppets in the grand scheme of God”, Dhruv replied positively..

“Ok, ok! But just so you know, you are under my radar mister. If it is some sort of magic trick, we will know”, the leader responded with humour.

“But you still didn’t tell me what you said to me before the accident. I only have bits and pieces of it, but you never tell me what did we talk about that time” asked Dhruv.

“Well Dhruv, looks like I have some magical secrets of my own”.

Both bid adieu to each other as it was getting dark.

“Sorry leader! I troubled you again!” Dhruv said to the leader with a bit of guilt.

“Sorry? Why are you sorry? Actually, we are sorry. Can’t catch a break because of you. Two accidents in a year! Either you have a magnet for lightning strikes or Lord Indra himself is targeting you”, said the leader with a mix of concern and shock.

“Don’t you move a muscle. I had a word with vaidhya ji, and he says you may need a full bed-rest of a week. So rest both mentally and physically during your resting phase. We will take care of the energy plant till then”, leader added.

“But… I wanted to tell you someth….”

Before Dhruv could finish his sentence, the leader left in a hurry.

“Welcome Dhruv! Sorry I couldn’t come to see you for a month, got really occupied amongst the tribe festival approaching”, the leader apologized.

“Don’t worry about it, leader. Just have self belief, you will make it”, said Dhruv.

“Wait, what did you say???” exclaimed the leader who froze upon hearing Dhruv’s comment.

The leader immediately understood that Dhruv quoted the same advice he gave him right before his first accident, which means he now remembers it all.

“Looks like you are the one who’s hit by lightning now!” humoured Dhruv.

“You got your old self back! Our Dhruv is back?? Don’t you joke about this!” said an almost jumping leader.

“That’s what I wanted to tell you at vaidhya ji’s place. But you being a busy man, have rockets on your ankles”.

“Chambers, now!” said the leader with a failed attempt towards hiding his happiness.

Dhruv explained in the leader’s chamber, “When I was going home from the inaugural ceremony, the rainstorm hit the valley, which was familiar to the situations that were there during the first accident. Same weather, similar time of the day, and same path that I was walking on. Just then lightning struck a nearby tree and I fainted on the spot. I woke up at vaidhya ji’s place, having remembered all the things that were forgotten previously”.

“And during my bed-rest, I had a lot of time to think. All the things I achieved last year were all me, without the memories of my childhood bullying. I guess they were gone during my memory loss as we were discussing them the first time I left your place, after my career and fear discussion I had with you. That was the time when you asked me to believe in myself as I had always been an ambitious kid and built for greatness. With all those bullying memories gone, I achieved things like they were always meant for me to be. Now when all memories are back, looking at my past year I can simply say that I understand the grand scheme of things now”.?

The leader was more than happy to witness the miracle that happened, and even happier to see Dhurv having found the clarity that was meant to have.
