Chapter 3: Planning the “Plot”

In the previous chapters, we explored the importance of owning your story and understanding the power of your personal narrative. Now, in Chapter 3, we dive deeper into the process of planning your plot. This chapter focuses on how you can build upon your back story, leverage your life experiences and strengths, recognize opportunities, and envision your potential. By actively shaping your plot, you can set the stage for a fulfilling and purposeful journey of personal development.


Section 1: Building the Plot with Your Backstory, Life Experiences, and Strengths

Your back story serves as the foundation of your personal narrative. It encompasses the defining moments, lessons learned, and core experiences that have shaped you into the person you are today. Explore how you can intentionally build upon your back story by reflecting on your life experiences and identifying your strengths, you gain a clearer understanding of your unique path and the direction you want to take.

Here are some questions to help you reflect on your back story:

? What are the defining moments in your life?

? What are the lessons you have learned?

? What are your core values?

? What are your strengths?


Section 2: Embracing Opportunities as Doors to Possibilities

Opportunities are the doors that present themselves along your journey, offering new pathways and possibilities for growth. By being open and curious, you can step through those doors when they appear; explore new horizons and uncover new dimensions of “Your Story”.

Here are some tips for recognizing and embracing opportunities:

? Be willing to take risks.

? Be curious about the world around you.

? Be grateful for the opportunities that come your way.

When you are open to new experiences and willing to take risks, you are more likely to encounter opportunities. And when you are grateful for the opportunities that come your way, you are more likely to make the most of them.

As you reflect on your strengths and the opportunities before you, it's important to imagine what you can become. By combining your strengths with the opportunities in your life, you can unlock a vision of your future self. Through visualisation, you should play the plot as vividly as possible. Try to have a as clear vision of “Your story Plot, then set goals and act.

The plot does not necessarily have to be long term. It should be long enough to cover an important milestone. E.g. graduating from college, next promotion, getting a job in your dream organisation. Once you reach the end of the story line, develop the plot for the next episode. Build upon your successes, leverage your life experience, trust your strengths, recognise opportunities and most importantly, believe in yourself. Imagine the extraordinary person you can become. In doing so, you truly own your story and pave the way for a future filled with fulfilment, resilience, and personal success.
