Effective communication is most important which is part and parcel of our job. Effectiveness of this is vital for achieving better results.
I remember getting an approval for various maintenance work to the tune of about Rs.3 crores just in one e-mail. This has happened within a week of my joining this organization. Since a year they were unable to get approval from Corporate to carry out these critical maintenance activities even though it was planned.
Five steps for effective communication:
Following five steps helped me to get the desired results: -
1.?? Understand the audience and their requirements.
2.?? Prepare your communication accordingly to meet their requirements.
3.?? Highlight the important point which you don’t’ want the audience to miss or provide an executive summary if the details provided are lengthier.
4.?? In e-mail communication the subject line should convey the content, body of the message needs to be organised well to invite readability. Restrict the body of the message to a half page to get reader’s attention. ?
5.?? Use simple language, avoid abbreviations, and long sentence.
?“Effective communication is mirror of your performance”.
