Chapter 17 | ANCIENT WISDOM, MODERN PRACTICE
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all...
I know it’s Christmas Day and I should be holiday-ing with my family... but the beauties in my house are still enjoying their sleep and I was excited to keep reading the newly published, #1 Best Seller, Codes of Longevity, and to share my thoughts on the latest chapter to encourage you to learn with me about the incredible longevity brilliance Dr. Melissa Peterson and her merry band of health enthusiasts have packed into this amazing book.
This chapter, by Dr. Ashley Beckham, travels back thousands of years to share insights from The Divine Farmer’s Classic of Herbalism—the oldest herbal text known in the world—to help us design a better, healthier future. Ashley says, “By utilizing the wisdom in the traditional texts, we are discovering how to alter our genetic destiny to live much longer lives.”
That’s what we want, isn’t it? To live much longer and much healthier lives.
Dr. Ashley is on a mission to educate people on practical ways that they can adjust their lifestyle to avoid altogether or to heal from the deluge of chronic age-related diseases that are wreaking havoc on the golden years of so many.
These are a few of my favorite takeaways from her chapter.
“Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) is not just about living longer... but about living healthier.”
“What you put in your body affects your epigenetic blueprint and has a direct impact on your health and anti-aging potential.”
“... the choices we make on a day-to-day basis determine how long we live and how long we remain vital and productive.”
What TCM calls superior herbs have been found to promote longevity and to work with the body to regulate the myriad of functions, and to remain youthful and radiantly healthy.
“Herbs such as ginseng, reishi, cordyceps, and green tea are some of the most potent superior herbs in Chinese medicine pharmacopeia that also have strong anti-aging effects.”
I was so impressed with all I read from Ashley’s superior chapter that I’ve made a New Year’s Resolution to add a little ginseng, reishi, and cordyceps into my daily diet along with a few of the spices of life that Dr. Charlie Ware recommended in the previous chapter: ginger, turmeric, basil, rosemary, and curcumin.
Once you read doc Ashley’s chapter about TCM and the amazing health benefits that can be derived from ginseng, reishi, cordyceps, and green tea, I hope you’ll become resolved to add a little of this ancient wisdom into your daily health practices, too.
Oh, if you have trouble sticking to resolutions like so many do, read My Philosophy For Bringing Resolutions To Life. I’ve had a tendency to hang on to mine and put them to work improving my life.
And that’s what I want for you!
