Chaos versus Hope- A breathless fight
“And this too shall pass”.
We have been hearing this statement for so long. “This too shall pass”; But how? The world around us is crumbling. It is like a never-ending earthquake, gripping us, all of us. They say, to be strong-minded, to be buoyant, to think about only positive things, but they don’t know, how difficult it is to stay calm and think positive when you know, the world out there is crying and screaming just to breathe. Even a deaf person could hear those screams. There is no single story or status on social media where people aren’t asking for oxygen or ventilators. Twitter, Instagram, and every social media ever are flooding with such posts. People are legit begging just to see their loved ones breathe.
I came across a post on Instagram which said, “one day you stepped outside without a mask on for the last time, and didn’t even know it”, it just broke me down, I was hunting for that memory but it was so distant and blurred. I am not sure if we can go back to the normal times, I just wish, we just go back to the simpler times-The healing phase, when our nation was healing and there was less panic and death among us.
Covid is not just making us physically or internally sick but incapacitating our minds too. Now, I may not be a Covid positive person but still, I am suffering from it. It has affected our minds and our thoughts. It is just somehow pinned in our brain that we can’t think of anything keeping the situation apart.
Here, I want to share, how you can keep your mental health at peace and keep yourself placid, and can stable your mind during the second wave that has hit our nation.
A little backstory: "My dad was tested positive in the second week of April, and the very first thing that I did was-“PANIC”, which was very wrong and that’s not even the worst part. My dad was in Agartala, with no one to take care of him and he had to do everything on his own. This just broke me into million pieces and no one from my family was able to travel so far because of the worsening situation of Delhi.
I am not the most optimistic person. I got panic and anxiety attacks for three nights straight, since I heard this news, I couldn’t sleep or think anything straight. This was the most helpless I have been ever. But somehow, we overcame it, my dad is recovering and is healthy and tested negative a few days back."
Here are some recommendations, which you can consider while going through a similar situation or just whenever you feel low seeing the situation out there:
1) If someone from your family or friends is tested positive- Do not panic and keep your calm. I know it is difficult, even if you can’t stop it just don’t show it to the affected person. This might make them even more scared.
2) Positive Manifestations- I don’t how many of you believe in it but trust me, it works. I have done it (and as I said earlier, I am the most pessimistic person you will ever find). Send positive vibes and manifestations to the sick person. Make them believe that they will survive this and will recover from it. This might expedite their healing process.
3) Talk to the affected people. Support them mentally, if not physically, you might not know, what they are going through. Talk to them, divert their minds, help them in whatever manner you can. Suggest them good and positive movies so that they can pass their time during their home quarantine. Create a healthy playlist and share it with them.
4) Do not remind them to take their medicines, trust me they might even have set a reminder for consuming their medicines. Do not share, information regarding what all things hospitals are running out of. You just keep a note for them, in case they require it, and pray that they don’t ever need it. Remind them to walk, get out of their beds even if it is for 10 minutes. Suggest them a good healthy recipe or what book to read or anything that would take their minds out of it.
5) Pray. I know some people are atheist and agnostic but have a little faith in that superpower, who is backing up all the frontline workers, whose protecting the families of the patients in the hospitals. Meditation and chanting prayers can give your heart the much-needed strength that it requires. Pat your heart with every breath you take, say a manifestation along with it. It will be true. Trust me, I have done this and this has helped me survive my dad’s Covid phase.
Lastly, please stay inside, not every one of us has this privilege of staying in. And for some reason you need to step out, Kindly take medicines/supplements prescribed for Covid that you can consume daily, go for vitamins like B complex, Vitamin A, C and D, and Zinc. Try double masking whenever you go out. Change your clothes after you come back home. And do not panic even if you notice Covid symptoms.
Always remember, we are all in this together, our situations might be different but we all are suffering and surviving altogether.
And this too, shall pass.
