Channeling the Fashion child

Coachella last week drew a slew of glamorous and youthful faces back to Palm Springs and naturally, we couldn't take our gaze and attention away from the cues for its commercial fashion adaptation. This edition of the festival has been full of happy faces, young at heart people, and a playground of art in fashion. One of the many vibes that emerged is KID-ADULT.

Kendell Jenner posed cutely with her twin tails, and the world looked on. Harry Styles wore his custom-made sequin dungarees, and the world looked on. There were also many booths from children's fairs at the festival.

The main concept here is to sell nostalgia. With the rise and shine of Y2K(the 2000s) fashion back on the scene, it has already become a fashionable tool this season. Also, the young festival-frenzy crowd is more likely to participate in such events and as a result, strong KID-ADULT vibes have crept in. Because social media is buzzing with the relevant trend tags, fast-fashion and youth retail brands will be surely required to provide relevant fashion in the forthcoming times.

Through colors and designs, the trend has brought back Bows, Barbie, and Bubblegums. The Statement bow has been seen in both couture and commercial collections. Bow has made an appearance everywhere from Mach and Mach's shoes to Giambattista Valli's runway. In recent weeks, Zara has interpreted the trend with beautiful Bow Tops and loose tie dresses. Bubblegum color schemes are prevalent in young women's products. The Pinks and Mints, reminded them of happier, more carefree times, as well as childhood friends and places.

Butterflies, as "Area" depicted them hyper realistically during Coachella. The trend has been noticeable in accessories and embellishment. Along with the butterflies many of our dear insects like dragonfly in rhinestone and ladybug in sequins have been spotted in stores this season. These insect motifs inspired by country life are making a comeback from the current youth's and young adult’s childhood memories.

Many brands have already incorporated the Y2K comeback this Season in their Indian fashion catalogs, and we see an abundance of hippie and bohemian pieces for the music festival trend surge. Since Coachella is here for some more time and it has already been declared as an another runway for the young and the joyous, using the trend cue to create relevant communications can boost sales.?

India itself is buzzing with the news of both small and large events taking place. Summer Jams will be held on balmy tropical nights, as well as more old-school concerts in the Northern Hills' colonial ruins are expected. Thus, the young and the young-at-heart are all planning to escape to such events in these towns bustling with tourists and with flexible and hybrid work models.

Low-rise Jeans and hip revealing pants, Mini and Micro-Mini school skirts, and bling-bling child disco pieces for the night are all back in style with this trend. It's also an opportunity to highlight and sell more repurposed fabrics with a nostalgic storyline.

For the creatives, either mix and match your childlike imagination or simply re-enact some of the popular stories of the time. Bring out your own version of Hannah Montana and Barbie stories. Alternatively, simply search for Coachella on Instagram and everything will come flooding back.

Ain't you so ready? Just to pick up that imaginary mike made of shampoo bottles and channel the fashion child inside you. And yes, for more Butterflies within and around us/ourselves!
