Channel 2 News Anchor Jovita Moore Inducted into NATAS Silver Circle 2017

The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Southeast Chapter honored Channel 2 Action News anchor Jovita Moore with one of its most prestigious career awards, induction into the Silver Circle. The award was presented to Moore at a Friday night celebration held at the Grand Hyatt in Buckhead.

NATAS honored Moore’s lifetime of dedication to the television industry. It’s a milestone immortalized in silver and an honor reserved only for dedicated broadcasters who have left their mark over at least 25 years of experience. 

“Classy, smart, hard-working, consistent, persistent, determined and passionate,” said Vice President and General Manager Tim McVay. “That’s how I describe Jovita. It’s what she does every day that makes her great. Watching her be all she can be inspires me and her co-workers to be the best we can be.”

“She’s an amazing woman and a real leader in the newsroom,” said Misti Turnbull, News Director for Channel 2 Action News. “I’m honored to work with her every day. It gives us all a lot of confidence knowing that she is in the chair.”

“Jovita has always been quite the worker bee,” added former Anchor Monica Pearson. “She always does whatever Channel 2 Action News needs, plus some. She’ll work hard in the newsroom, help producers, anchor, get out into the community and never miss a beat. She is unique, classic WSB-TV.”

Moore was recognized for her 27 years as a television journalist. She joined a group of industry professionals who have helped shape the past, present and continue to influence the future of the broadcasting industry.

Before moving to Atlanta to join WSB-TV in 1998, Moore worked as weekend anchor/reporter at WMC-TV in Memphis, Tenn. Moore began her career as a reporter at KFSM-TV in Fayetteville, Ark. in 1990.

A native New Yorker, she earned a Master's Degree in journalism from Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in literature from Bennington College in Bennington, Vermont.
