CHANGING YOUR MINDSET MAY CHANGE THE SITUATION
Jana Venkata Ramakrishna
Associate Vice President- Human Resources at Indian Hotels Company Limited
I wanted to share this thought with you all, which has really changed the way I look at things.
I have always been this dreamy person who wants to accomplish a ton of things in life. I have always been excited about doing new things, exploring new ideas, travel and all the things. But a couple of months back, I kind of lost all my energy and drive. The things that happened with me and family, affected me to a point where I was unable to take a single step forward. It was very strange, this feeling of helplessness, sadness, some kind of guilt.. It make me step back and think. All the things that were happening around me, would have happened anyway. We can't stop the wind from blowing, but we can certainly change the set of our sails.
So I started working on myself to open my mind and allow it to welcome more. Calmness and inner peace are things that I worked on a lot. The most important lesson I learnt this year is equanimity. To let all the noise, distractions, clutter be there, and yet to find my base to find my inner voice. I learnt that I cannot avoid everything that pulls me back, but I can just let it be happening and yet slowly bring my focus to what I want. It's been such a wonderful experience strengthening these mind muscles.
It's less draining and life is so much better and beautiful.
