Changing the World Through Art

Every now and then an artist comes along who is so talented and successful at a young age that you feel they must be a reincarnation of a master from another century. Or, maybe they are just born supremely gifted… Well, I spend my life looking at art – writing about art - marketing art – and am not easily impressed. But one man who consistently blows my socks off with his work is Luis Sanchez.

 Luis has made his living as a professional artist in Los Angeles for 20 years, primarily focused on mixed media painting. But his mother had a vision, and he had a dream, so he began his first bronze sculpture series last year, completing 7 intricate and detailed pieces by December 2014. Unfortunately, his body began rejecting his second kidney transplant, and he was then hospitalized and unable to work for several months. Now, the doctors tell him that he may only be able to continue sculpting for a few more years, due to a degenerative condition in his wrist from the IV treatment. His massive medical bills and months of being bedridden have left Luis strapped financially, with little money to live on, and none to finish the last 7 pieces in his series.

 Which brings me to this indie-go -go campaign. How much money do you spend on coffee every week?
