Changing the status quo

Changing the status quo

A week ago, a client called to inform one of the candidates on hold has been selected and they wanted to process further, I was super excited and called my manager to inform the same.

Sanchith, my manager, understood my tone and the temptation getting better of me and asked me not to influence the candidate and check his need and aspiration rather than convincing him to join my client. I understood what he was trying to convey - one of our main principles to keep the candidate interest first.

Upon calling the candidate, within moments we realized he got an offer from an eCommerce company and for a role he was looking for. When we congratulated him, he was a bit surprised and said he never experienced any recruiter calling and wishing for an offer received elsewhere.

I smiled and informed him that even we called for an offer and definitely could pay him more, but I refrained because he seems to have got the role he wanted. A silence followed by a "Thanks a lot for not even sharing a number as I would have said Yes looking at the number and by doing so, I would lose my credibility in front of the other organization." We both laughed as we realized it was a new experience. I never had a candidate who acknowledged my feedback and he never had a recruiter thinking about him first. We parted ways promising to keep in touch and wishing each other well.

My journey in TEKsystems has enabled me to keep the candidate interest first and not worry about financial gains all the time. I am happy I could create a small impact on that day and as a Recruiter/Talent Advisor will hope to do so consistently in the future.

You've left the person with an impact . . a conversation he would never forget. and I am sure the same at your end. This must have given you a greater satisfaction given the fact that your candidate was able to choose the opportunity he wanted to pursue!

Aditya Raj - You showed a lot more excitement after you completed that conversation. I am sure that you enjoyed the small joy of allowing the candidate to pursue his aspiration more than the excitement you showed when you received his selection email. Keep enjoying these smaller joys and impacting people.

Loved it Aditya Raj. It certainly remphasize the belief of putting other's interests ahead of mine and creating an impact in someone's life.
