Changing the rules about Social Security overpayments
Mathematica research has informed a policy change that means Social Security recipients will now pay back much less if they were inadvertently overpaid.
The Social Security Administration will no longer automatically withhold 100% of the overpayment amount from recipients’ monthly benefits. Instead, it will collect 10% – or $10, whichever is greater – to recover the overpayment.

8 个月SSA should allow benefit recipient's the ability to earn more than the basic $14k a yr. If you have folks needing to work because of their benefits do not adequately cover their inflated base household expenses (i.e. rent, groceries, transportation, medical, or gas..etc). These rules have a built in bias, and it's unrealistic and sets up people for financial crisis. SSA needs to be revamped and categorized accordingly for those individuals who paid into the fund for years and have the credits, before a medical emergency or becoming disabled. ????????
