Negativity is often the silent killer of innovation, culture and well-being. It is such a word that can be dangerous to the people and the organization. When we talk about the workplace, the negativity is spread by the employees who are working in the organization. It is something which not only affect the profit of the organization but also the environment of the workplace. It is the most important thing monitored in the workplace especially in the current scenario where people find more happiness into virtual world rather than real world or reality.
The people tackle negativity in their own way. Some find positivity in everything whereas the others are vice-versa. They will try to find negativity in everything and then they will over-think of the situation which will ultimately make them feel depressed. In this case the other people in spite of helping them, they will push them more into depression by giving sympathy and then they will portray themselves as the saviours of those people who are in need to overcome from the depression in the virtual world.
Negativity in the workplace is a different concept. It can be spread through many factors but the most important is when the expectations are not met of the people working in a organization. There is a proverb saying “Expectation always hurt” but as a human being we tend to expect something from the organization. In this case, there are some factors which can convert the employees mind set to positivity and these factors are as follows:-
1. The employees should be always motivated by the organization.
2. There should be proper feedback of the employees working in the organization.
3. The work environment of the organization should have positivity.
4. The employee should get the chance to speak his/her point of view in front of everyone.
5. The organization should provide training to the employees in the particular intervals.
6. The employees must be updated and are ready to adapt changes in the organization.
7. The employees should help each other in solving the problems.
8. The employees should have a good work life balance.
9. The employees should be self-motivated and should be polite to everyone.
10. The communication should be clear and understanding level should be increased between the employee and the organization.
The above factors will not only make the employees happy but also increase their efficiency and productivity of their work. Previously the things were different in the workplace because people were not digitalized but now in this generation the people are socially and technologically expertise in the documents. So to maintain positivity train everyone to think before speaking and to ask themselves, not just, “Is this comment what I believe?” but also, “Is this comment adding value?” Teach everyone to focus on saying and doing things that add value - and to just leave out the rest. This will not only help them to communicate better but also to bring a vast change in the mind-set of the people living in society and working in an organization.
