The hiring market is changing.
We are seeing clients moving to fill job openings but not without pause and anticipating what could be a mild recession. In past periods of uncertainties, pharma/biotech has fared better than most. As a potential candidate, consider these steps:
1.????Not looking you say? Take the call anyway: Even if you are happy as a clam, don’t be overly content. Unannounced job cuts happen and you never know what is out there that’s better. Take the call. It might be well worth it.
2.????Evaluate the company culture: Culture is everything these days. Afterall, we spend so much of our time at work, work culture can make all the difference. Ask the tough questions about the company's values, mission, trends, and work environment to determine if it's a good fit for you!
3.????Understand the job requirements: Dig deep before you decide if a job opportunity is right for you. Ask the agency recruiter or talent acquisition member for a detailed job description and any other relevant information. One great question early on… “is this role a new position or replacement”?
4.????Research the company: Investigate history, reputation, and financial stability, turnover. Look online for company reviews, news articles, and financial reports – and even anonymous past employee reviews (i.e., Glassdoor, Indeed, etc).
5.????Consider the compensation package: Money matters for sure, but it’s not the only thing worth considering. In addition to salary, ask about bonus potential, health and wellness benefits, stock grants/options, sign-on bonus, continuing education, etc. It all adds up!
6.????Evaluate your career goals: Find out if there is potential for growth in this role and company. Consider if this opportunity will help take steps toward your overall career goals. Think big picture. Trouble figuring out career goals? Click here or email me at [email protected]

7.????Seek advice from trusted sources: Close friends, mentors, colleagues, even family members—all can provide insights and guidance on an opportunity that is best for YOU. They may be able to offer perspectives that you haven't considered and help you make a more informed decision.
By considering these steps, you can evaluate a job opportunity presented by an agency recruiter or talent acquisition member with wisdom and perspective. Stay current on what’s going on in your market and make the time to see what’s out there.
Make it Count!
